NWU Fraternities Take a Polar Plunge in Order to Raise Money

On Saturday, Feb. 28, approximately $70,000 was raised to benefit the Special Olympics. Over 350 participants jumped into Lincoln’s Holmes Lake in 35-degree temperatures to raise the money. Participants came from all over Nebraska and included some representatives of Nebraska Wesleyan University’s fraternities. Full story

Lincoln Haymarket Arena to Appear on May Ballot

A vote on the Lincoln Haymarket Arena is slated to be part of the State Primary Election ballot on May 11, 2010. According to an economic analysis conducted in May 2009, the project will create over 2,500 full-time jobs each year of construction, in occupations that will design and build the arena and surrounding development. NWU Accreditation Process on Track for Spring 2010

A faculty and staff steering committee at Nebraska Wesleyan University has recently filed a report for an accreditation process that has not taken place since 2000. The evaluation, performed on a self-study basis over a period of several years, will culminate this spring semester with an on-site visit from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Internship Brings NWU Students to Thailand

During admissions, colleges and universities tout their connections, and the benefits those contacts reap for enrolled students. For two Nebraska Wesleyan University students, an internship offered exclusively at NWU provided exactly that. Award-winning author Brenda Bence selected Senior Kelsey Steinmeyer and Junior Maggie Stanton for an opportunity that would provide them not only with valuable work experience, but would take them more than 8,500 miles from Lincoln. Pot, Meet Kettle

It is currently 11:15 p.m. on a Saturday evening. I have just spent the entire day (well, since about 12:30 after I got up) working on two papers simultaneously – both from scratch. Tomorrow will be spent in like fashion – finish those two rather large papers, then add on a long reading assignment, a response paper or two, more reading, and various other assignments that have taken the backseat to the mass of paper writing that was my weekend – not to mention making it to the music building to practice voice.
