Elder Gallery offers ‘Art of Fine Craft’ display

this evening to reveal its second exhibition of the fall semester, “The Art of Fine Craft.”


The show includes works from more than 40 artists that showcase their talents in many types of media, including ceramics, glass, textiles, fibers, metalwork, jewelry, wood work and print making.


A reception will be held in the gallery from 5:45 to 6:45 tonight and will be followed by a keynote lecture by artist Sonya Clark. Clark is the Chair of the Craft/Material Studies Department at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. Her lecture is entitled, “Hand-Me-Downs: Our Stories Held in Objects, Materials and Processes.”


“The Art of Fine Craft” will run through November 8.


Elder Gallery is located in the Rogers Center for Fine Art on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus. Normal gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
