One of the things most missed by the Communication Department professors: the tap dancing. On any given day one can hear someone tapping and rehearsing in the Theatre building, the former home of the Communication Department. While the Communication professors miss the hustle and bustle of the Theatre building, the new location in Smith Curtis 330 is more central for its majors and minors.

“I like that we now have our own space to gather in and the professors are all in one area,” stated Katie Paloucek, a Communication and Psychology double major. The move took place over break and went smoothly. Only a couple of chair leg caps were discovered to be missing, no fear, replacements have been ordered.

New faces will be seen working in the front office. Lori Johnson, the secretary for the Communication Department and Theatre Department, is faced with the challenge
of juggling two departments within two separate buildings. Several Communication scholars were hired to fill Johnson’s shoes while she is working in the Theatre building.

The new helpers are Desirae TePoel, Trish Anderson, Shana Perry and, very soon, Ingrid Koitla. Though things were chaotic in the first week, the department has begun to settle in and the new location is beginning to feel like home.

Next time you need to see a Communication professor or just want to check out the department, do not hesitate to stop in and explore the new digs in Smith Curtis. While there may not be tap dancing, there is always a friendly face to greet you and good company
to keep.
