Football Wins Fifth-Straight Home Game in Shut-Out Against Dordt

Kory Kahlandt rushed for a career-high 197 yards and three touchdowns to lead Nebraska Wesleyan University to a 34-0 victory over Dordt College in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) action on Saturday (Sept. 26) in front of 625 fans at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.

The Prairie Wolves improve to 2-2 overall and now have won five straight home games. It also marks the second straight season that NWU has defeated Dordt by a score of 34-0.

Kahlandt got the Prairie Wolves on the board early with an eight-yard TD run in the first quarter. He added a five-yard TD run in the second quarter and capped off his career day with a big 48-yard run in the third quarter.

The other touchdown for the Prairie Wolves was a 1-yard touchdown by Matt Hagge.

Zach Egger continued his strong start to the season with a pair of made field goals (37 yd. and 30 yd.).

Nebraska Wesleyan's defense posted its first shutout of the season and its eighth shutout in the past four seasons. NWU held Dordt to just 172 yards of total offense and forced another turnover.

For the fourth straight game this season, the Prairie Wolves blocked a punt. On Saturday, Jordan Dellbaugh blocked the kick, his second of the season.

As a team, NWU rushed for 317 yards. Besides Kahlandt, Steve Fricke had 50 yards on six carries and Jerod Franck added 34 yards. Hagge was 7-16, passing for 86 yards with an interception.

Josh Kendle led the NWU defense with nine total tackles and a tackle for loss (TFL). Garrett Rippen had eight tackles with 1.5 TFLs and Cody Eiler recorded his first collegiate interception.

The Prairie Wolves now have a bye week before returning to action on Oct. 10 at Dana College.

Dordt was led by Ben Robbins who had 61 rushing yards on 11 carries. Justin Knot was 9-18 for 49 yards with one interception.
