Mitch Glesinger: What first attracted you to Nebraska Wesleyan University and the Track and Field program?
Anne Kersenbrock: I was first attracted to NWU because both of my sisters, Claire and Mary, ran for Wesleyan from 2000-2006. My family and I would come watch them run and seeing that Wesleyan was a successful team made it exciting to watch.
MG: What are your expectations for yourself and your team overall this season?
AK: For myself I expect to hopefully break the 200 meter indoor record and just compete the best to my ability. My expectations for the team are to win conference, both indoor and outdoor. We have been training hard for several months and the team is strong and our chances of winning the conference title, both boys and girls, are really good.
MG: Is there anything specific you have been working on for this season?
AK: Yes, I would like to try and jump at least 19 feet or close to it in the long jump, and I would like to better the 200 record for the indoor season. The biggest thing I have been working on this season is to help contributing to the team and trying to win the conference meet this year.
MG: You have collected a number of awards and recognition in your time at NWU. What has been the most important to you and why?
AK: The most important recognition I have received at Wesleyan would be getting the school and GPAC 200 record last year at indoor conference. This is important to me because it shows that if one works hard enough on an event, they will be able to accomplish what they have been training for.
MG: Do you have any superstitions or routines on meet days?
AK: Yes, it takes me about two hours to get everything ready and to get myself mentally prepared for a meet. One of my superstitions is that I have to say a prayer before every race and I do it the same way every time.
MG: What has been your favorite thing about NWU?
AK: My favorite thing about Wesleyan is the track team. The team is a second family, we are always here for each other, cheering each other on, and many of them turn out to be life-long friends with great memories.
MG: You’re a senior. What is your major and what do you plan to do after graduating?
AK: I am a History major and next year I plan on attending either Indiana or Idaho for dental lab technician school.
