Kahlandt Breaks NWU Rushing, TD Records

Kory Kahlandt scored five first half touchdowns to set a school record for single game touchdowns as he helped Nebraska Wesleyan University to a 45-14 victory over Dana College on Saturday (Oct. 10) at Viking Field in Blair, Neb.

Kahlandt finished the game with 109 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He broke the NWU single game record of four touchdown that was held by four different players and set the rushing touchdown record that was previously held by Cody Hoegh.

The NWU defense was just as dominant as they did not allow Dana past the 50-yard line in the first half, holding the Vikings to just 28 yards in the first half.

NWU also took advantage of three first-half turnovers and six Dana penalties to jump out to the 39-0 halftime lead.

As a team, the Prairie Wolves finished the game with 298 yards of total offense with 221 of those on the ground. Defensively, NWU allowed Dana to finish with 210 total yards.

Kahlandt now has 11 touchdowns on the season, which is already tied for second all-time after just five games. He also moved up to seventh on the career rushing yards list with 1,649 yards and tied for fifth in career rushing touchdowns with 17.

Josh Kendle led the NWU defense with eight total tackles and an interception. Cole Meyer and Cody Eiler also had interceptions for the Prairie Wolves. Jake Riha added seven tackles and two tackles-for-loss.

NWU will be back at home for the first time in three weeks on Oct. 17 when they host GPAC rival Hastings College in a key conference matchup.
