McBride Shoots 165 to Take Doane Invite; Team Takes Second Place

Alyssa McBride shot a two-day total of 165 (85-80) to defeat the nearest competitor by 13 strokes as she won medalist honors at the Doane College Invite, held Sept. 28-29 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.


For McBride, a sophomore from Lincoln, it was her first collegiate individual victory.


As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan University was second in the invite with a team score of 773 (400-373. Morningside College won the team title with a team score of 762, defeating the Prairie Wolves by 11 strokes.


NWU had one other golfer in the top five as Kiley Miller placed fourth individually with a total of 192 (99-93). Sarah Hotovy and Katie Knispel rounded out the scoring for the Prairie Wolves.


The NWU women will finish out their fall schedule on Oct. 5, when they host the second GPAC Qualifier at Pioneers Golf Course.
