Both the Nebraska Wesleyan University women’s and men’s soccer teams dropped Great Plains Athletic Conference matches on Saturday night to Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. The NWU women lost 2-1, while the men fell 1-0.

The NWU women are now 4-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the GPAC, and the men fall to 3-2-4 and 0-1-2 in GPAC.

In the women’s match the Prairie Wolves jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Leah Stevens scored in the third minute of the game. However, NWU would not score again as the Red Raiders tied the match in the first half then scored a goal in the second period for the win.

The Prairie Wolves outshot Northwestern, 12-9, but were unable to find the open net.

The NWU men, who are missing key players due to injury, allowed a goal in the 40th minute which would be the only goal of the game. NWU had four shots on goal, compared to 10 for the Red Raiders.

NWU men will look for their first GPAC win of the season on Tuesday when they travel to Hastings, Neb., to take on Hastings College.
