Both the Nebraska Wesleyan University men's and women's track & field teams continued their indoor season on Jan. 30 when they competed at the Scott Nisely Invitational at Doane College in Crete, Neb.
First-year Taylor Tacha was the only NWU individual winner on the day as she won the 55-meter hurdles. The first-year from Bertrand, Neb., set a NWU women's first-year record with a time of 8.36 in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles. Tacha's time ranks sixth all-time on the NWU charts. She completed her day by finishing third in the 400-meter dash.
Teammate Anne Kersenbrock had another solid day placing in the top five in two different events. Kersenbrock was third in the long jump with a mark of 18' 5.75" and on the track she was fourth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.58.
The only other NWU woman to place in the top four was Erin Twibell, who ran a time of 7.57 to finish fourth in the 55-meter dash. She was sixth in the 200 with a time of 28.24.
On the men's side, Josh Wall's second place finish in the 600-meter run was the highest individual placing for the Prairie Wolves. Wall had a time of 1:24.60.
In the mile run, three NWU runners were in the top five as Eric Noel (4:28.15), Neil Wolford (4:36.25) and Bobby Brown (4:37.69) placed 3-4-5.
Kevin Janata had a solid day in the hurdles, placing fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.78. He also was seventh in the triple jump.
The 4x800 relay team brought home a second place finish in a time of 8:21.58. NWU will compete at home this Saturday (Feb. 6) when they host the NWU Quad meet in Knight Fieldhouse.
