On the evening of Tuesday November 15, the talents of NWU students echoed through the café in the student center. Open mic night was put on by the Wesleyan Entertainment board where they offered refreshments and gift cards in exchange for students displaying their talents.

The small crowd as well as unsuspecting café-goers were greeted by singers, bands, comics and even rappers. Senior Allison Rabel, accompanied by friend Hilary Saunders, started off by performing acoustic covers followed by the newly-formed band Nine Eyes' guitarist Nathan Dawdy and vocalist Tim Brawner, who preformed two original songs. Others who took the stage included senior Garrett Janzen who played a Jack Johnson cover and WEB's own Andrew Samson who showcased his ukulele skills. The laid back atmosphere provided the opportunity for several participants to collaborate together as well as for others to test out new material on an audience. Hilary Saunders said, "I love any opportunity to share my talents for an audience."

After students preformed, the Wesleyan Entertainment Board showed their appreciation by rewarding the talented students with ten dollar gift cards.

Although there was an abundance of talent displayed, there was a lack of participants and audience members.

This is a characteristically busy time of year for students, but for those who attended the event, it proved to be a fun and creative study break. WEB member Andrew Samson said of the event, "The Wesleyan Entertainment Board was extremely satisfied with the way Open Mic Night turned out. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it will return in the future. Thank you to those who played and those who joined us to enjoy the talent that was displayed."
